What is Marionette Lines?
Marionette lines run from the corners of the mouth down towards the jaw, creating the impression of a permanently downturned or sad expression. They form as volume is lost from the lower face and the tissue descends, often with a pre-jowl hollow developing alongside them.
How does Marionette Lines treatment work?
Hyaluronic acid filler is used to support the tissue at the corner of the mouth and to fill the groove itself, softening the shadow and lifting the mouth corner. Where the underlying cause is loss of jaw or chin structure, we may recommend supporting that first. Many patients get the best result from a combination of filler here and a small dose of botulinum toxin to relax the muscle pulling the corner down.
