What is Gummy Smile?
A gummy smile describes a smile in which more than around three millimetres of gum is visible above the upper teeth. It is usually caused by a hyperactive levator muscle that lifts the upper lip too far. Botulinum toxin offers a simple, non-surgical way to reduce the amount of gum shown.
How does Gummy Smile treatment work?
One or two precisely placed micro-doses relax the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi muscle at the side of the nose. This limits how far the upper lip travels upward when you smile, so less gum is exposed while the smile itself remains yours. Accuracy matters enormously here; a millimetre of misplacement can affect the smile's symmetry, which is why the treatment is only done by a knowledgeable injector.
