What is Chin Dimples?
A dimpled or 'cobblestone' chin, sometimes called peau d'orange or orange-peel chin, is caused by an overactive mentalis muscle bunching the skin of the chin. It can appear at rest or only when speaking, and often becomes more pronounced with age as the overlying skin thins.
How does Chin Dimples treatment work?
Botulinum toxin is injected into the mentalis muscle, usually as one or two points low in the chin. Relaxing the muscle stops it puckering the skin, so the chin surface smooths out. It can also reduce the upward push of the chin that contributes to a deep crease beneath the lower lip.
